Golden Eagles Will Host William Carey for Senior Day

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - With rain wiping out last weeks Senior Day festivities against Southern, the women's tennis team will try again on Monday against William Carey. The Crusaders will travel across town to Southern Miss for a 3 p.m. start. Tjasa Jerse and Rikeetha Pereira will be honored prior to the match for their contribution to the Golden Eagle program over the past four years.
The Golden Eagles are coming off a 4-3 loss to C-USA foe UAB. The Golden Eagles swept doubles play before the Blazers swept singles play. It moved Southern Miss to 0-2 in C-USA play.
Jerse ranks fourth all-time in career wins with 67 in singles play. In 2019, the Slovenia native has a 9-4 record with a winning streak that spanned 13 days and five matches. In her senior campaign, Pereira has upped her win total to 44 matches with at least two matches still to be played.
William Carey ranks fifth in the NAIA polls with a 9-2 record. The Crusaders dropped a one-point match to Xavier on Saturday, which was the same squad the Golden Eagles dominated in March. The loss snapped a six-game winning streak for William Carey that had wins over three ranked teams during that stretch.
Senior Day festivities will start at 2:45 p.m. at the Southern Miss Tennis Facility. Admission is free.
