HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss baseball continues its current homestand when they entertain Southern at Pete Taylor Park in a single contest, Wednesday, March 6, at 6 p.m.
The game was moved back a day due to wet grounds following continued heavy rain in the area over the previous few days as it will be game four of a seven-game homestand.
The Golden Eagles (4-5) look to snap its longest losing streak – five games – since 2013 as well as tying for the longest in the Scott Berry era when they meet the Jaguars.
It looks as if the Golden Eagles were going to snap that string Sunday, as they led Gonzaga 7-1 after 3 ½ innings, but the rains came. After an hour delay, the game was called and ruled a no contest.
In its lone midweek contest, Southern Miss plays a Southern squad that is 6-5 on the year, having split four games at home last weekend against Eastern Illinois.
This will be the second year in a row that the two schools have played each other with Southern Miss taking a 12-1 decision at The Pete in 2018. The Golden Eagles lead the overall series 3-2, which dates back to the start of the 1986 campaign.
The game can be heard locally only on the Southern Miss Sports Network from Learfield IMG College on the flagship stations of 96.5 FM and 97.7 FM, as well as 104.5 HD2 in the Hattiesburg area. The can also be accessed through Tune In and for free on the Southern Miss Gameday App.
Tickets for the game can be purchased through SouthernMissTickets.com, 1-800-844-TICK (8425) or by visiting the Pete Taylor Park Box office two hours prior to the scheduled first pitch.
