Beach Volleyball to Make History Against Tulane

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - When Southern Miss (2-5, 0-0 CCSA) and No. 17 Tulane (3-6, 0-4 CCSA) battle on Tuesday afternoon at the Southern Miss Beach Courts, beach volleyball history will be made. The meeting marks the first time in Mississippi history that a NCAA Division I Beach Volleyball match will be hosted by a Mississippi university.Â
At the New Orleans Invitational this past weekend, Southern Miss made more history as they defeated Huntingdon for the programs first-ever victory. The Golden Eagles added another win on Saturday afternoon after sweeping Nicholls State at the Digs Volleyball Complex.Â
Abbey Wilson and Cyan Blackdeer are riding a four-game win streak into Tuesday's contest after posting a perfect record at the New Orleans Invitational. Kylie Grandy and Lindsey Legg caught fire this weekend after winning three of their four matches at the No. 1 pairing.Â
Scouting Tulane
The No. 17 Green Wave head to Hattiesburg three days removed from beating Missouri State at the Horned Frog Challenge. Tulane fell to Grand Canyon, TCU, and Georgia State in its three other games in Fort Worth, Texas. Kaylie McHugh and Eva Torruella lead the Green Wave at the No. 1 pairing after going 4-0 at the Horned Frog Challenge. Overall, the Green wave sit a 3-6 in the 2019 season.
Tulane's No. 1 pair is the only duo that has more wins than losses this season, but have played five ranked opponents. Southern Miss and Tulane will mark the first Coastal Collegiate Sports Association match for the Golden Eagles.
Game Information
First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the Southern Miss Beach Courts. The second game will follow at approximately 3:30 p.m. The Southern Miss Beach Courts are located on west side of the Payne Center. Parking is located in the Payne Center Lot or the M.K. Turk Circle located at Reed Green Coliseum.Â
