Women's Tennis to Host Bradley on Tuesday

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - When the Southern Miss women's tennis team hosts Bradley on Tuesday afternoon, it will mark nearly 34 days since the Golden Eagles last played a match at the Southern Miss Tennis Facility. They have yet to lose a match in Hattiesburg after jumping to a 4-0 start and cruised to a 7-0 win against Grambling State 34 days ago.
The last time out
The Golden Eagles wrapped up the Texas spring break trip with a 4-1 win over Texas-Rio Grande Valley on Saturday morning. Katia de la Garza/Monique Burton and Rikeetha Pereira/Ebru Zeynep Yazgan each won at doubles to give the Golden Eagles a point before singles play had started. Pereira improved to 7-1 in her senior campaign with a two-set win over Marine Darzyan at the No. 2 position. Tjasa Jerse, a fellow senior, recorded her 63rd win as a Golden Eagle after winning in straight sets over Michelle Walker at the No. 3 pairing. Sophomore Katia de la Garza extended her record to 7-1 after dropping only three sets during the whole match. Yazgan and Anastasija Cobanovic both went unfinished at the No. 5 and No. 6 position, respectively. Arina Amaning fell at the top singles position in straight sets.
Scouting Bradley
The Braves head to Southern Miss with a 9-5 record and have won six of their last 10 matches. Most recently, Bradley fell to No. 47 Tulsa, 7-0. Sandra Maletin paces the Braves with a 10-2 record at No. 1 singles and a 5-4 record at No. 1 doubles with Natalia Barbery. At No. 2 singles, Bozana Lojpur has accumulated a 10-3 record and at No. 3 singles, Malini Wijesinghe has a 10-2 record. Overall, the Braves sit at 45-34 in singles and 17-17 in doubles.
First serve is slated for 2 p.m. at the Southern Miss Tennis Facility. The Golden Eagles boast a 22-3 record when playing on their home court this season.
