Walker Kesterson Paces Southern Miss in Final Round of Border Olympics Tuesday

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Junior Walker Kesterson (Hartsburg, Mo.) shot a final round 75 to pace Southern Miss men's golf over the final day of the Border Olympics, being played at the Laredo Country Club in Laredo, Texas.

Kesterson shot a three-over 75 at the par 72, 7,204-yard course, finishing with a 50th-place tie and a 222 total. Kesterson beat out teammate, sophomore Brian Richard (Gulf Breeze, Fla.) by a stroke, who ended his 54-hole circuit with a final-round 82 with a 223 and a 53rd-place tie.

Junior Matt Lorenz (Gulf Shores, Ala.) fired a 79 over his final round for a 232 and an 86th-place tie, while senior Nathan Corchis added an 80 for a 233 total and 88th-place tie. Freshman Joey Kirkland (West Monroe, La.) ended his tournament in 90th-place with a final round 82 and an overall score of 234.

Southern Miss shot a final-round 314 to end the event with a 907 and a 16th-place team finish.

The Golden Eagles return to action, Monday, April 1, when they play host to the Jerry Weeks Match Play event. That will be held at the Hattiesburg Country Club.
