Lady Eagles Start Texas Two Step at UTSA

Southern Miss heads on a two-game road trip to UTSA and UTEP, starting off in San Antonio.
HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Lady Eagles of Southern Miss start off a two-game road trip to Texas in San Antonio, taking on UTSA on Thursday night at 7pm.

Southern Miss (13-11, 5-6) take on the Roadrunners (6-17, 1-10) in Convocation Center. This is the ninth game between the two, and the fourth in San Antonio. The Lady Eagles lead the series 7-1 with a 5-0 record in Reed Green and a 2-1 record in Convocation Center. The last meeting was a win for the Lady Eagles in Reed Green; an 83-60 victory over UTSA.Â

"UTSA is a team that has struggled this year somewhat, but they live and die by the three-ball. Everyone on the team is making threes for them. They shoot the ball so much better at their place … we need to get a good start off at UTSA."

Megan Brown, the lone senior for the Lady Eagles, is chipping away at the 35 points she has until joining the 1,000-point club. She is also in the top-three for career games played, tied with Jamierra Faulkner and Tanesha Washington. Brown has also started in 88 consecutive games. Shonte Hailes continues to rack up assists as the season progresses, having a total of 101 so far this season, making her career total 347.Â

After the game against LA Tech, Southern Miss has now had six games shooting 50 percent or better from the field. Ten players have had at least one three-pointer this season and six players, non-freshmen, have hit new career highs in points this season.
