Women's Soccer Drops Rain Soaked Contest to Middle Tennessee

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss women's soccer team (7-9-0, 2-6-0 C-USA) dropped Friday morning's match to Middle Tennessee (7-9-1, 4-4-1 C-USA) by a final score of 5-0.
Originally scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. (CT), Friday's match was moved up to a 9:00 a.m. (CT) kick-off, due to forecasted rain in the Hattiesburg area.
The match remained scoreless until the 22nd minute when Middle Tennessee's Hannah Tillett connected on a shot from 20 yards out, giving the Blue Raiders a 1-0 advantage.
Amber Hoot extended Middle Tennessee's lead to 2-0 just before the end of the first half, after scoring in the 44th minute.
A goal by Maddi Falter that came in the 64th minute off of an assist by Madeleine Schricker pushed Middle Tennessee's lead to 3-0.
Peyton DePriest added to the Blue Raiders' goal total in the contest after netting a goal in the 81st minute, making the score 4-0.
MacKenzie Bonham capped off the scoring in the match with goal in the 87th minute.
Southern Miss finished the match with a 5-1 corner kicks advantage over Middle Tennessee.
The Golden Eagles will return to the pitch on Sunday, October 27 when they host the UAB Blazers at the Southern Miss Soccer Complex. Kick-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. (CT).
With Sunday's match being a Breast Cancer Awareness game, pink Southern Miss soccer t-shirts and wristbands will be given away to fans at the gates while supplies last.
In addition, Sunday's match will also feature Blake Nettles Day and Athletes Supporting Athletes.
