HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Golden Eagle women's golf team will be in familiar territory for its third tournament of the fall, competing in the third-annual Magnolia Invitational in West Point, Miss.
Live scoring from the par-72, 6,320-yard Old Waverly Golf Club can be found here. The first two days have 8 a.m. tee times, followed by an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start Tuesday.
Southern Miss will be part of a small, but stacked, field that includes No. 23 LSU, No. 25 Mississippi State, No. 36 Auburn, No. 48 Tennessee and No. 58 Chattanooga as well as Iowa, Kennesaw State, Memphis, Tulsa and South Florida.
Southern Miss has been to the event each of those three years, finishing 14th last season and seventh one year prior. Rain washed out the final round in 2018, leaving the first 36 holes as the final tally. Julie Baker carded a 1-under 71 in each round to finish tied for sixth. In Fall 2017, Valentina Haupt posted a 2-under 214 and fifth-place showing, tying a career-low.
This year, the Golden Eagles will be represented by Friend Chompitakdacha, Tenley Moretti, Cassidy Evreniadis, Valeria Pichardo and Emily Cox.
This will be Cox's third time at the course, and her best round was a 74 to close out the 2017 trip. Pichardo and Evreniadis also played last season.
Chompitakdacha enters the fray after producing her lowest-career round (71) and best finish (tie for 12th) in the Lady Paladin Invitational. It was the second-straight tournament she produced a new career standard in each category.
Moretti has had a solid start to her Southern Miss career, carding a career-low 75 in her first round of the season and improving her score over each of the three stanzas of the next tournament. Her, Chompitakdacha, Valeria Pichardo and Cassidy Evreniadis have each participated in both tournaments so far.
