HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss women's soccer team (6-6-0, 1-3-0 C-USA) will travel to North Carolina for a Friday night contest against Charlotte (8-3-0, 3-1-0 C-USA). The Golden Eagles and the 49ers will kick-off at 6:00 p.m. (CT)/7:00 p.m. (ET). The match will be played at Transamerica Field on the campus of Charlotte.

When the Golden Eagles take the pitch on Friday night they will be looking to capture their first road win against the 49ers in program history.

The Last Time Out
The last time that Southern Miss took the pitch, they fell to then ranked #19 FAU by a final score of 3-1 on Sunday (October 6).

FAU's Mary O'Hara gave the Owls a 1-0 lead after scoring a goal in the 23^rd minute. However, FAU's lead would be short lived as Southern Miss junior forward Ariel Diaz scored an equalizing goal just 14 seconds later.

The match remained tied 1-1 until the 65^th minute when FAU took a 2-1 lead via a Southern Miss own goal.

Tiril Haga added an insurance goal for the Owls in the 76^th minute, capping off the scoring in the match.

Noteworthy Moment

Despite the loss, Southern Miss junior goalkeeper Kendell Mindnich recorded six saves in the match, just one save shy of her career-high for saves in a match.

Charlotte leads the all-time series, 8-2-2. Southern Miss is 2-2-1 when taking on the 49ers in Hattiesburg, 0-5-0 when facing them on the road in Charlotte and 0-1-0 in matches played against the 49ers at a neutral site.

The Last Meeting on the Pitch
The last time that Southern Miss and Charlotte squared off against each other on the pitch was on October 5, 2018 at the Southern Miss Soccer Complex. Southern Miss won the match, 1-0.

In what was her freshman campaign, Southern Miss midfielder Olivia Durham netted the game-winning goal in the 10^th minute of the match on an assist by Hannah Abrams, leading the Golden Eagles to a victory over the 49ers, who at the time, were ranked #1 in C-USA.

The Opponent
Charlotte is led by alum John Cullen who is currently in his 11^th season at the helm of the women's soccer program.

Cullen became the all-time winningest head coach in the history of the Charlotte women's soccer program on October 12, 2014 after capturing a 2-1 victory over Southern Miss at Transamerica Field.

In its last match played, Charlotte edged out Marshall, 2-1 on Sunday (October 6) in Huntington, W.Va.

Charlotte is currently tied with Louisiana Tech and FAU for third place in the C-USA standings.
