MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Lady Eagles are on the road for two straight games, and will start the road trip off at Middle Tennessee on Thursday night at 6:30pm.
The Lady Eagles (8-7) face the Blue Raiders (11-4) on Thursday to continue conference play. Southern Miss is coming off a loss to North Texas, whereas Middle Tennessee comes off a win against Florida Atlantic. Against the Mean Green, the Lady Eagles were led by freshman Daishai Almond who finished with 13 points; a career-high.
This will be the 11th meeting for the two, with USM leading the series 8-3. The Lady Eagles are leading the series in Murphy Center, 2-1. Southern Miss has a winning streak of three against the Blue Raiders. In the all-time series, three games have gone into overtime, and two of them were won by the Lady Eagles.
"Going on the road, you're away from distractions at home," said Joye Lee-McNelis. "You're able to control distractions and get film sessions in, it's more relaxed, you're able to be around them as coaches."
The Blue Raiders are tied with UAB for No. 1 in scoring defense in the conference, with 855 points and an average of 57 points per game. Middle Tennessee is just behind Southern Miss in both rebounding defense and rebounding margin at No. 2.
