HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The 2019 edition of the Southern Miss baseball squad, which will play two games this fall against outside competition, begins preparations for next spring with its first official practice, Friday, Sept. 21.
Also this fall, the Golden Eagles will entertain Nicholls State, Sunday, Oct. 28, while also traveling to Tulane, Sunday, Nov. 4, as that will be the final day of their four-week fall practice schedule.
Southern Miss will be able to play the two fall games that will not count against their 56-game spring limit after the NCAA passed a new rule allowing for two fall games beginning this fall.
The Golden Eagles return 19 letterwinners from a season ago, which includes five position-player starters, as well as 15 newcomers.
Practices typically run from 3-6 p.m., at Pete Taylor Park weekdays and the general public is invited to attend.
