Southern Miss Wraps Up Lone Star Invitational

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss men's golf team wrapped up play at the Lone Star Invitational after today's third and final round of the tournament. The team finished 14th at 61-over (925) and Matt Codd was the Golden Eagles' top finisher, tying for 54th at 13-over (229).
Codd's finish in San Antonio, Texas is the third time this season he has been the top finisher for Southern Miss. The senior also collected a team-high nine birdies over the 54 holes, one of them coming today on his 14-over (86) round.
Nathan Corchis, tied for 67th, was the next Golden Eagle on the leaderboard at 17-over (233). He netted a team-best five-over (77) in the final round, helping himself move eight spots higher than where he finished yesterday. Knotted with Corchis in 67th was Walker Kesterson with an eight-over (80) performance today. He collected 12 pars during his last round on the Briggs Ranch Golf Course, bringing his tournament total to 39, tied for the most of any golfer in the field.
Derick Kelting marked himself a few strokes behind Kesterson at 22-over (238), sitting in 78th, and was 11-over (83) on the day and Matt Lorenz climbed two spots with his best round of the tournament coming in the final round. His round of six-over (78) was a five stroke improvement from yesterday's go and placed him tied for 80th at 29-over (245).
Southern Miss will be back at it again March 26-27 at the Golden Nugget Invitational, hosted by McNeese State.
