USM is back in Reed Green Coliseum for a Sunday matinee game.
HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Lady Eagles (2-1) will take on the Samford Bulldogs (2-2) on Sunday at 2pm in Reed Green Coliseum.
This will be the seventh meeting between the two squads, and the fourth in Reed Green. The last time the two met was last December, when the Bulldogs defeated USM on their home court in Alabama, 61-56. The overall series record is in the favor of Southern Miss, 4-2.Â
The Lady Eagles are coming off a tough loss to the Jaguars of South Alabama. USM held the lead for the majority of the game but South Alabama made a final push in the fourth quarter and overcame Southern Miss, 77-68 at Mitchell Center. It was the first away game of the season for the Lady Eagles.
Camille Anderson was the leading scorer against the Jaguars with 18 points, a career-high. This was the first start for the Lady Eagle newcomer. She played the most minutes of her career, spending 31 minutes on the court. Alarie Mayze had 17 points for USM, and led the team in rebounds with 9. Mayze currently leads the Conference and her team in steals with 11 on the season. The Lady Eagles lead the Conference in steals with 35, largely because of Mayze.Â
