HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Southern Miss soccer team returns to Hattiesburg Sunday to host at 1 p.m. at the Southern Miss Soccer Complex.
The Golden Eagles return home after a close 1-0 loss at WKU for its second conference loss in a row. The Lady Hilltoppers converted the only goal of the game off a header in the 25th minute.
Second half offensive runs and pressure was not enough to equalize the game. Breann Hedin's effort from 30 yards out hit the crossbar for the Golden Eagles closest chance to tie the game.
After Thursday night's loss, the Golden Eagles fall to 5-3-0 on the season and 0-2-0 in C-USA play.
The Herd travel to Hattiesburg after a 3-1 loss at North Texas Thursday night. The Herd are 2-5-2 entering Sunday's game against the Golden Eagles.
Sunday's game will also be Blake Nettle's Day to celebrate Blake Nettle's life and his contributions to the Hattiesburg soccer community. Karen Torres will be receiving the scholarship established in his memory with the Nettle's family at the beginning of halftime.
Scouting Marshall: Jordan Sackaris and Sydney Arnold are the Herd's leading scorers with five and three goals respectively. The Herd travels to Hattiesburg with a three-game losing streak that started with a 1-0 loss against WKU.
