HATTIESURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss soccer team travels to Bowling Green, Ky., to face WKU for its second game of conference play.
The Golden Eagles (5-2-0) are coming off a 3-0 loss to LA Tech at home after an early red card left the team to play with a person down for 60 minutes. Despite the early possession and numerous scoring opportunities, the Golden Eagles couldn't find the back of the net.
Coach Mohammed El-Zare's team will try to stay perfect on the road with their match against the Lady Toppers. Bri Schubeck and Katie Richmond will continue their offensive dominance and look to add another goal to their name.
Brittany Taylor and the defense will aim for the fifth clean sheet of the season while closing down Chandler Backes, the Hilltoppers leading scorer this season with nine goals.
Scouting WKU: The Lady Toppers (6-3-0) are coming off a two-game road trip at Marshall and Belmont last week. The Lady Toppers traveled to Marshall early last week for the first game of Conference-USA play and won 1-0 off a late goal from Backes. The road trip ended with a 3-0 win over the Bruins for its third straight victory.
The Golden Eagles hosted the Lady Toppers in 2014 and lost 2-0.
