Cross Country Opens the Season at Warhawk Invitational

HATTIESBURG, Miss.- The Southern Miss cross country team travels to Monroe, Louisiana to compete in the Warhawk Invitational. The race will be hosted by ULM on Friday, Sept. 2 at Selman Field.
Senior Daphney Stanford, who was Second-Team All-Conference in 2015 and senior Dana Dillistone, who was All- Conference on the track, will lead a young Golden Eagles team into its competitions this fall. With six freshman joining them this season, there is plenty of room for growth.
"We just want to continue to get better and build the program up", coach Kindt said. "The expectations are a little higher this year, being placed third in the Preseason Coaches' Poll, we are expected to compete at the top of the conference."
After coming off of a great finish in the 2015 season, finishing fourth in the conference, the coaching staff is excited to watch the freshmen the next few weeks as they start to find their roll on the team.
Following the race this weekend, Southern Miss will be racing at the Rebel Cross Country Invitational on Sept. 11, 2016, being hosted by Ole Miss.
