Seniors Lead Golden Eagles At Regular Season Finish

STARKVILLE, Miss. – The Southern Miss men's and women's outdoor track and field teams finished the regular season at the Jace LaCoste Invitational with seniors leading the way.
Senior Mariam Kromah won the 200m in a time of 23.73. Kadaria Thompson finished third in a time of 24.12.
Senior Elbert Rogers won the 400m in a time of 45.98. Lorenzen Burton finished fourth in 47.35. Curtis Walker rounded out the Golden Eagles in the top ten with an eighth place finish of 47.93.
Senior Kayla Taylor had a runner-up finish in the shot put with a toss of 14.74m (48'03.5"). Brashe Wood finished fourth with a toss of 14.00m (45'09"). Taylor also had a runner-up finish in the discus with a throw of 49.87m (163'06"). Wood finished sixth with a mark of 45.47m (149'01.75"). Danisha Jones finished ninth with a toss of 41.79m (137'01"). Jones finished tenth in the hammer with a throw of 46.38m (152'01").
Senior Christopher Monroe placed second in the triple jump with a leap of 15.16m (49'07"). Devonta Brassell finished sixth with a mark of 14.05m (46'09.5").
The women's 4x100m relay team, consisting of Modesty Lorick, Thompson, Adrianna Allen, and Kromah, ran a second place time of 45.53.
The men's 4x100m relay team of Derrick Johnson, Walker, Robert Wells, and Jamad Smith, had a third place finish in a time of 40.74.
Emron Gibbs placed third in the javelin throw with a toss of 65.00m (213'02.5"). Thomas Peters finished fifth with a throw of 61.96m (203'02.75").
Thompson also placed fourth in the 100m in a time of 11.90.
Allen placed fifth in the 400m in a time of 55.24.
Talia Thompson ran a time of 1:01.57 in the 400m hurdles, placing fifth.
Wells ran a 10.50 in the 100m to place sixth.
Jamar Sims finished sixth in the long jump with a leap of 7.16m (23'05").
Modesty Lorick ran a time of 14.09 in the 100m hurdles, placing sixth.
Courtney Filliben ran a time of 2:14.24 in the 800m, placing sixth. Kristin Zarrella placed eighth in a time of 2:16.46.
Alondra Hoyos placed ninth in the 1500 in a time of 4:45.91.
