Southern Miss Cross Country set for Conference Championship

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The No. 12 regionally-ranked Southern Miss Cross Country team travels to Charlotte, North Carolina this weekend to compete in the 2016 Conference USA Cross Country Championships.
The Golden Eagles have had a fantastic season and are looking to capitalize on it at this competition. The 5k race will take place October 29 at 9 a.m. on the Frank Liske Park.
"The team is heading into this weekend meet with a lot energy and momentum," Southern Miss cross country coach Aaron Kindt said. "We've had a competitive and strong block of training coming off of the Bama meet two weeks ago. This has been by far the most consistent team we've had since I've been here in regards to their preparation and their effort day in and day out at practice."
The team will be led by seniors Dana Dillistone, Courtney Filliben, and Daphney Stanford all coming off strong performances in the Crimson Classic.
"I am really excited to watch this group get back on the line" coach Kindt said. "We have talked all fall about taking the next step as a program and competing with the best in the conference, the ladies are definitely up for the challenge."
Following the C-USA Championships, the Golden Eagles will prepare for the NCAA South Regional that will take place in Tallahassee, Fla. on November 11.
