Golden Eagle Cross Country Team Wins Own Southern Miss Invitational

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- As the temperatures hovered around the mid-90s, the Southern Miss women's cross country team claimed its third consecutive Southern Miss Invitational title as the Golden Eagles' top six runner took the top spots at Tatum Park Friday.
Southern Miss scored 15 points followed by Xavier-Louisiana second with 67 points, Spring Hill was third with 74 points and ULM was fourth with 87 points.
Junior Rebecca Ulrich covered the 5K course in a time of 18:12.90 followed by Daphney Stanford with a time of 19:12.71. Dana Dillistone was third with a time of 19:46.31 followed by Avery Rosenbalm with a time of 19:59.20, Victoria Hoppe placed fifth with a time of 20:06.22 with Madeleine Bell rounding out the top six with a time of 20:27.49. Chloe Tedder finished eight with a time of 21:03.72.
Ulrich led from start to finish as she ran to the front of the pack. The Golden Eagle group stayed close through much of the race, but in the ladder stages of the race Ulrich began to put distance between her teammates as she finished one minute ahead of the next runner.
Spring Hill placed a pair of runners in the top 10 with Nicole Kotval and Katie Dolan.
ULM men's team claimed the men's team title with 18 points, placing seven of its runners in the top 10. Spring Hill was second with 53 points and Xavier-Louisiana third with 67 points. Isaac Ndirangu was the individual winner covering the 5K course with a time of 16:50.12.
