Men's Golf Opens C-USA Championship Sunday

Texarkana, Ark. - The Southern Miss golf team is one of 13 men's golf teams slated to tee off Sunday at the 2015 Conference USA Men's Golf Championship at the Texarkana Country Club.
The Golden Eagles are led by a trio of golfers including senior Casey Fernandez who has a 72.9 stroke per round average, followed by redshirt sophomore Ryan Argotsinger at 73.7 and senior Drew Kirby at 74.1.
Conference USA is set to become the first NCAA Division I conference to include match play, reflecting the NCAA format, as part of its men's golf league championship. The member schools will play 54 holes of stroke play, Sunday through Tuesday, on the par 72, 6,935-yard course, with the top four teams advancing to a four-team seeded match play playoff to be conducted Wednesday, April 29.

With seeding based on the current Golfstat team rankings, No. 30 UAB is the top-seeded team for the tournament.
Louisiana Tech and Southern Miss will begin as a twosome from the first tee.
For every succeeding round, team scores will determine pairings. Live scoring of the 20th annual C-USA Men's Golf Championship will be provided by Golfstat.
The winning team earns the league's automatic bid to the 2015 NCAA Men's Golf Championship. This will be the sixth year Texarkana has played host to the men's championship.
