Men's Golf to Participate in 30th Annual Louisiana Classics

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss men's golf team travels to Lafayette, La., for Louisiana Classics, hosted by Louisiana-Lafayette. The tournament will be played at the par-72, 7,098-yard Oakbourne Country Club.
The tournament begins Monday at 8 a.m. The teams will play 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday.
Southern Miss will be joined in the tournament by eight teams in Golfweek's Top 100 rankings, led by top-ranked Illinois. Also participating are No. 45 Northwestern, No. 49 Southeastern Louisiana, No. 66 South Alabama, No. 73 Kansas, No. 80 UTSA, No. 88 Texas State and No. 99 Kent State.
Also joining the Golden Eagles are Illinois State, Kansas State, Louisiana-Lafayette, Middle Tennessee and Mississippi State.
Redshirt sophomore Ryan Argotsinger is teeing off in the No. 1 position. He is second on the team with an average of 73.94 strokes and has five top-20 finishes this year. He is coming off a career-best ninth-place finish at Mobile Sports Authority Intercollegiate.
Senior Casey Fernandez, who leads the team with a stroke average of 73.44, will tee off in the No. 2 position. He has finished in the top-20 in four of six tournaments this year.
Senior Drew Kirby will tee off in the No. 3 position. He has a stroke average of 74.61 on the year and three top-20 finishes.
Junior Hayes Weathersby is teeing off in the No. 4 position, averaging 76.00 strokes per round. Junior Tyler Peggs will tee off in the No. 5 position. The Germantown, Tenn., native has a stroke average of 78.56. Freshman Vasili Kartos, who is averaging 76.94 strokes, will participate as an individual.
