Track & Field Announce Early Signees

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Southern Miss Head track and field coach Jon Stuart announced the signing of 10 new student-athletes for the 2016-2017 academic year during the early signing period. The incoming Golden Eagles are Zimbert Bramble, Cravorkian Carson, Austin Railsback, Eric Washington, Robby Watson, Jamari Drake, Monika Gebarzewska, Emma Kate Holdbrooks, Savannah McMillon, and Maggie Rice.
"I am extremely pleased with our early class, our assistant coaches worked very hard putting this group together," Stuart said. "It's a great group of excellent students that are tremendously talented and have exceptional character. This group will help lead us into the future."
Bramble of Toronto, Can., currently competes in the high jump for Coffeyville (Kan.) Community College. As a freshman last spring, he recorded a fourth place finish at the NJCAA Regional Championship. At the NJCAA National Championship Bramble recorded a tenth place finish. He has a personal best of 6'10".
Carson of Tylertown, Miss., currently competes at Meridian (Miss.) Community College where he runs the 60 meters indoors and the 100 meters outdoor. He has personal best of 6.83 sec. in the 60m and 10.40 sec. in the 100m. While at Meridian Community College, he has been a NJCAA 60m Indoor National Finalist and a NJCAA 100m Outdoor National Finalist.
Railsback of Tyler, Texas is a senior at Chapel Hill High School where he competes in the high jump. He has a personal best of 6'10". He is a Texas Regional and District Champion as well as garnished a third place finish at the Texas State Championship.
Washington of Decatur, Ala., is a senior at Austin High School where he competes in the long jump. He is an Alabama State Champion, USATF National Junior Olympic Champion, and the fifth ranked high school senior long jumper in the United States. He has a personal best 24'2.5".
Watson of Macon, Ga., is a senior at Presbyterian Day High School where he competes in the discus, shot put, and weight throw. He is a Georgia State Champion in the discus and shot put. He has a personal best of 19.87m in the weight throw and a best of 165' in the discus throw.
Drake of Springfield, Ill., is a senior at Springfield Southeast High School where she competes in the high jump. She is the Illinois High Jump State Champion and she recorded a third place finish at the USATF National Junior Olympics. She has a personal best of 5'8" indoors and 5'8.5" outdoors.
Gebarzewska of Wroclaw, Poland runs the 800 meter, 1500 meter, and 3000 meters. She is the Polish National Cross Country Champion. She had a fifth place finish in the 3000m at the Polish National Track and Field Championships. She also recorded a third place finish at the Polish National Mountain Race Championship. Gebarzewska has personal bests of 2:15 in the 800m, 4:37 in the 1500m, and 9:58 in the 3000m.
Holdbrooks of Winfield, Ala., is a senior at Winfield High School where she competes in the 1600 meter, 3200 meter, and the 5k. She is the Alabama Indoor 1600m and 3200m State Champion. She is also the Alabama Outdoor 1600m and 3200m runner-up. She has personal bests of 5:15 in the 1600m, 11:22 in the 3200m, and 18:51 in the 5k.
McMillon of Jasper, Ala., is a senior at Walker High School where she competes in the 800 meter and the 5k. She is the Alabama Outdoor 800m State Champion. She also recorded a tenth place finish at the Alabama State Cross Country Championship. She has personal bests of 2:16 in the 800m and 19:10 in the 5k.
Rice of Newberry, Fla., is a senior at Newberry High School where she competes in the 1600 meter, 3200 meter, and the 5k. She has recorded a top 15 finish at the Florida State Cross Country Championship. She was selected to the Florida Athletic Coaches Association All-Star Team Selection. She is the Florida State Champion in the 1600m, 3200m, and the Florida State Cross Country Champion.
