Cross Country Eagles Takes Southern Miss Invitational Title

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss cross country team placed five runners in the top 10 as the Golden Eagles won their second meet of the season with the Southern Miss Invitational Saturday.
Rebecca Ulrich paced the group over the 5K course with a time of 19:06.80 followed by teammates Daphney Stanford at 19:20.00 and Kristin Zarrella at 19:36.20. Alondra Hoyos placed sixth with a time of 20:42.40 while Katie Canavin crossed the finish line in 11th-palce with a time of 20:59.80. Rounding out the Golden Eagle finishes included Leigh Hoitt with a time of 21:45.60 and Avery Rosenbalm with a time of 23:43.20.
Southern Miss also took the team title with a score of 21 points followed by Xavier-Louisiana with 58 points, Southern-Baton Rouge was third with 71 points, Alcorn State fourth with 84 points and Southern-New Orleans with 117.
Southern Miss returns to action on Sept. 27 in the Ken Garland Invitational in Denton, Texas.
