31st Annual Southern Miss Invitational Collegiate Meet Canceled

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - For the first time in 30 years, the annual Southern Miss Invitational Cross Country Collegiate meet will not take place as scheduled. The high school meet will go on as scheduled.
The high school meet is scheduled to begin at 3:20 p.m. with the high school girls' race followed by the boys' race approximately 3:50 p.m.
"There were not enough teams entered in the race," Head Coach Kevin Stephen said. "Normally, we have anywhere from five to 10 teams entered in this meet, but not this year. I am hopeful we can get the meet back on track for next year."
Southern Miss will open the season on Sept. 9 at the Auburn Invitational. The Golden Eagles return seven letterwinners from last year's team.
