The Golden Eagles (32-11) have won 21 of 28 non-conference tilts in 2011 and won an earlier season meeting with the Jaguars 15-3 on March 23 at Pete Taylor Park/Hill Denson Field.
This road contest will be the final tune up before the Golden Eagles play their final three C-USA series starting this weekend at home against UAB. Following a road swing at Houston next weekend, Southern Miss plays host to Rice, May 19-21, during senior weekend to close out the regular season.
Eight Golden Eagles continue to hit over the .300 mark as senior OF Marc Bourgeois leads the way with a .380 batting clip. Fellow senior, Tyler Koelling is next at .374, while Adam Doleac is at .340, Jared Bales at .329, Isaac Rodriguez at .325, Ashley Graeter at .319, B.A. Vollmuth at .309 and Kameron Brunty at .301.
The Golden Eagles continue to play great defense as well, and after turning eight double plays in the East Carolina series over the weekend, now have turned a nation's best 64th twin killing.
Sophomore left-hander Dillon Day (1-1, 3.14 ERA) is expected to get the call for Southern Miss in the contest.
The Jaguars enter the game with a 22-21 record prior to its Tuesday night contest at home versus Mississippi State.
