Men's Golfers Travel to UALR/First Tee Collegiate Classic

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss continues its men's golf spring season this Monday-Tuesday, Mar. 28-29, when they travel to Little Rock, Ark., for the UALR/First Tee Collegiate Classic, hosted by the University of Arkansas-Little Rock and played at the par-72, 7,221 Chenal Country Club.
This is the second straight year that Southern Miss will participate in the event.
The tournament is headlined by six teams ranked in the Golfweek Top 100. Missouri enters the tournament as the highest ranked team at 59th. Southeastern Louisiana is 66th, Central Arkansas is 69th, Louisiana-Lafayette is 84th, Iowa State is 88th and Louisiana Tech is 92nd.
Joining Southern Miss is host Arkansas-Little Rock, Arkansas State, Illinois State, Louisiana-Monroe, Louisville, Missouri-Kansas City, Missouri State, Oral Roberts, Sam Houston State and Western Kentucky.
Southern Miss is coming off a seventh-place finish at the Louisiana Tech Classic. Redshirt junior Derek Plucienski picked up his fourth top ten finish of the season by tying for seventh-place.
Plucienski leads Southern Miss with a 72.8 stroke average over 24 rounds. He has 10 rounds of par or better, and has earned six top 20 finishes.
The tournament begins Monday with a shotgun start at 8:00 a.m. The teams will play 36 holes on Monday, followed by the final 18 on Tuesday.
