Golden Eagle Golf Set for Conference USA Championships

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss men's golf team will take part in the 2010 Conference USA Championships over the next three days at RedTail Golf Club in Sorrento, Fla. The winner of the Championships gets the league's automatic bid into the NCAA Regionals.
The championship begins each day at 8 a.m with golfers teeing off from holes 1 and 10.
Fans will be able to follow the tournament live at www.golfstat.com as play will be updated after every three holes.
The Black and Gold will tee off from hole #10. Junior Freddie Janneck will tee off at 6:30 a.m. and will play in the No. 5 position. Senior Brent Hobbs tees off at 6:39 a.m. in the No. 4 position. Redshirt sophomore Derek Plucienski is in the third-position teeing off at 7:48 a.m. Senior Wes Carter is in the No. 2 position and will tee off at 6:57 a.m., while redshirt senior Paul Apyan tees off at 7:06 a.m. and will play in the first position.
The Eagles are looking to improve on last year's ninth-place finish. Apyan led Southern Miss in a tie for 11th-place.
Apyan leads Southern Miss on the year, averaging a score of 73.3 strokes per round in nine events. The Golden Eagles are coming off a fifth-place finish at the BancorpSouth Intercollegiate in Madison, Miss.
