Men's Golfers Close Fall Slate at Memphis Intercollegiate

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss men's golf team will close out its 2010 fall schedule this week at the Memphis Intercollegiate.
The annual tournament takes place on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 25-26 at Colonial Country Club's South Course in Cordova, Tenn. The par-72 course will play to a yardage of 7,259 yards. The teams will play 36 holes on Monday followed by 18 holes Tuesday. Tee times start at 8 a.m. each day.
The Golden Eagles are making their seventh straight appearance in the Memphis Intercollegiate. Last year, Southern Miss finished in third place out of 16 teams. USM's best finish came in 2005 and 2007, when it took second-place both years.
Southern Miss will be joined in the field by seven teams that are ranked in Golfweek's Top 100, including Tulsa (38th), Missouri (67th), host Memphis (72nd), Louisiana Tech (73rd), Iowa State (87th), Louisiana-Lafayette (89th) and South Alabama (91st). Joining them in the tournament are Akron, Arkansas State, Arkansas-Little Rock, Army, Marshall, Mercer and Wisconsin.
Redshirt junior Derek Plucienski has three top ten finishes in four tournaments. In 12 rounds this year, the Slidell, La. native is averaging 72.0 strokes and has five rounds under par.
