Southern Miss Drops 7-0 Decision to No. 29 Auburn

AUBURN, Ala. Southern Miss women's tennis fell to No. 29 Auburn 7-0, on Tuesday at the Yarbrough Tennis Center.
The Lady Eagles fell behind early in the match as Auburn claimed the doubles point. Hollie Robinson and Shannon Rogers were defeated by Daniela Vukadinovic and Whitney Chappell, 8-0, while Lauren Gutterman and Elja van Berlo fell to Jill Hastenrath and Myrthe Molenveld at No. 1, 8-1. Alexandra Kaluza and Zoe Lee concluded the doubles competition with a win against Heather Bybee and Dunja Djuranovich, 8-6.
The singles competition also brought on tough losses for Southern Miss. Elja van Berlo fell to Whitney Chappell at No. 1, 6-2, 6-1. Shannon Rogers followed at No. 6, losing to Dunja Djuranovich, 6-2, 6-4. Lauren Gutterman dropped a 6-4, 6-0 decision to Daniela Vukadinovic.
At No. 4, Hollie Robinson fell to Auburn's Jill Hastenrath, 6-1, 6-1 while Alexandra Kaluza dropped a close match to Myrthe Molenveld at No. 2, 3-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-6). Zoe Lee also suffered a tough loss in the last match of the day, losing to Heather Bybee, 6-3, 6-3.
The Lady Eagles return home this weekend to host Southern at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Tatum Park.
