Baseball to Offer Pair of Winter Camps

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss baseball program will offer a pair of camps this winter including a Hitting Series camp as well as a Showcase Camp.
The Winter Hitting Series will run from Nov. 29 until Dec. 13, and will feature six sessions broken up on three Thursdays (Nov. 29, Dec. 6, 13) and Saturdays (Dec. 2, 9, 16) and is open or those in grades 10 through 12. Each session consists of two hours and will run from 6-8 p.m., on Thursdays and 2-4 p.m., on Sundays.
This specialized hitting camp is designed to cover in-depth, various hitting drills and techniques, as well as teach and refine hitting fundamentals in improving the camper's approach on offense.
Each session consist of a full cage drill circuit, along with batting practice on the field (weather permitting). All instruction will be provided by members of the Southern Miss team and coaching staff. Cost of the camps is $125.
The Winter Showcase Camp is slated Saturday, Jan. 12, from 1-6 p.m., and is open to those individuals in grades 10 through 12.
The format will mirror a professional tryout camp, which will give players the chance to field throw from both the infield and outfield, as well as first base and catcher, while pitchers will get an opportunity to throw from both the windup and the stretch.
This camp will be attended by four-year collegiate coaches, junior college coaches and professional scouts. Cost of the camp is $100.
