Southern Miss Finishes Second In Own Southern Miss Invitational

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- - Tulane had the top three finishers in the 5K race and placed five in the top 10, on its way to winning the women's cross country race with 21 points, while Southeastern Louisiana men's won team championship with 27 points on Friday evening at Tatum Park.
Keriann Langley covered the course in 18:13.19, followed by teammate Aubrey Phillips with a time of 18:58.90 and Rachel Bryan was third with a time of 19:37.32.
Southern Miss finished second with 47 points, followed by Jackson State with 74 points, Millsaps College was fourth with 102 points, Belhaven College was fifth with 117 points and Alcorn State was sixth with 141 points.
Southeastern's Shane Rayners was the top collegiate, covering the 4-mile course in a time of 20:46.16. The Lions placed four runners in the top 10.
Jackson State men's team finished second with 44 points, Mississippi State was third with 66 points, followed by Alcorn State with 106 points, Millsaps had 120 points, Belhaven College had 136 points and Tougaloo College had 193 points.
Southern Miss placed three runners in the top led by Ronna Sandoval (Picayune, Miss.) running a time of 19:46.23, followed by Brittany Wood (Pelham, Ala.) with a time of 19:59.53. Jemarie Alcorodo (San Diego, Calif.) finished 9th with a time of 20:47.93. Other Southern Miss finishers included Kaitlyn Daugherty (Big Bend, Wis.) was 13th with a time of 21:27.50, Stephanie Jones-DuBose (Nashville, Tenn.) was 16th with a time of 22:16.29. Kenika Weaver ran a time of 26:44.95.
