HATTIESBURG, Miss. -
The Southern Miss soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to Rice today.
With the loss, Southern Miss falls to 4-6-1 overall, 0-2 in Conference USA, while Rice improves to 9-1-1, 1-1 in Conference USA.
"We had a chance early in the game," Head Coach Gail Macklin said. "We didn't get the goals in. Then in the 30th minute, we lost momentum and we never really recovered. We got beaten by a very good team. We've got to shake it off and focus on our next game."

Rice then took a 1-0 lead at the 34:01 mark, as Laura Barber scored on a header off an assist from Kellen Schugart.
The Owls extended their lead at the 36:57 mark, as Stephanie Crain scored off an assist from Traci Fraser, to make the halftime score 2-0.
Rice held a 10-2 advantage in shots at halftime.
In the second half, the Owls made the score 3-0 at the 49:06 mark, as Crain netted her second goal of the match.
