Baseball Recruiting Class Honored By Collegiate Baseball
The Golden Eagles? recruiting class was tabbed among the ?other top recruiting classes? by the publication.
Southern Miss welcomes a total of 14 players to this year?s team, including six junior college transfers, and eight freshmen.
The class includes: Cole Besinger (6-2, 195, LHP, Minette, Ala./Faulkner State CC), Rob Burns (5-10, 185, LHP, Tuscaloosa, Ala./Shelton State CC), Matt Caire (6-0, 210, LHP, Luling, La./Delgado CC), Damian Dalfrey (6-2, 210, RHP, Eunice, La./LSU-Eunice), Bo Davis (6-0, 175, OF, Meridian, Miss./West Lauderdale HS), Jacob Fowler (5-11, 185, OF, Tuscaloosa, Ala./Bevill State Community College), Jonathan Johnston (6-2, 190, RHP, Jackson, Miss./Northwest Rankin HS), Patrick Maxwell (5-11, 190, INF, Shreveport, La./Evangelical Christian), Bradley Owen (6-5, 215, LHP, Semmes, Ala./Pensacola JC), Tyler Perrett (6-4, 210, RHP, Hazleton, Miss./Copiah-Lincoln CC), David Steele (6-2, 190, OF, Mandeville, La./Mandeville HS), Trey Sutton (6-0, 170, INF, Laurel, Miss./West Jones HS) and Ben Wade (6-2, 180, RHP, Eatonville, Miss./North Forrest HS) and Chase Baran (6-1, 180, LHP, Boyd Texas/Boyd HS).
The Golden Eagles return 14 letterwinners, including four starting position players and two starting pitchers, and six bullpen pitchers from last year?s squad that finished 45-19 overall and tied for second-place in Conference USA, advanced to the Conference USA Tournament championship game and also to its second-straight NCAA Tournament appearance. The Golden Eagles have produced a 92-35 record over the past two seasons for a 72.4 winning percentage, 10th best winning percentage in the nation during that time.
