Southern Miss Men's Golf Team Hosts Raising Cane Classic
HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Fresh off a second-place finish in their first tournament of the season, the Southern Miss men's golf team stays in Hattiesburg to host the 2004 Raising Cane Classic at the Canebrake Golf Club.
The Golden Eagles, under the direction of Head Coach Steve Johnson, placed second out of 12 teams in the Fairway Club Invitational last week in Lincoln, Neb., posting a three-round total of 913 (305-312-296). Junior golfer Danny Dennis fired an even-par 71 in the last round to finish with a three-round total 221 to earn medalist honors in that event.
The Raising Cane Classic begins with 36 holes on Monday and concludes with a single-round of 18 holes on Tuesday. In addition to Southern Miss, 14 other teams are scheduled to compete, including South Alabama, New Orleans, USF, Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana Tech, Sam Houston State, Middle Tennessee, James Madison, Arkansas State, McNeese State, Jacksonville State, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Tulane.
