Eagle Golfer Rushing Named C-USA Golfer Of The Month
Hattiesburg, Miss. - Southern Miss golfer Shane Rushing is Conference USA?s February Co-Golfer of the Month. He shares that honor with Tulane's Chris Wheeler.
Rushing won medalist honors in one event and helped Southern Miss to its first team road victory in 10 years in a second tournament.
He captured the Sam H. Hall Intercollegiate individual crown at the par-72 Hattiesburg Country Club by shooting an 11-under-par, three-round 205 total, including an opening round 66.
Rushing then followed the home tournament with a solid contribution as the Golden Eagles won the Beau Chene Collegiate Classic in Mandeville, La., team title at the par-72 Beau Chene course by carding a 207 fourth-place score. That victory marked the Eagles' first road victory in the past 10 seasons.
As a team, USM fired an 11-under-par, three-day total of 853 in the Beau Chene event.
In three February tournaments, Rushing finished with a 70.3 stroke average and was 20-under-par in his last two events.
