Eagle Golfers Tie For 6th In Louisiana Classics
Lafayette, La. -- Southern Miss shot a final round 6-over-par 294, finished at 291-294-294--879, and dropped from fourth place to sixth place in the Louisiana Classics event hosted by Louisiana-Lafayette and played at the 7,002-yard, par-72 Oakbourne Country Club course.
SMU shot a final round 290 and finished at 6-under-par 281-287-290--858 to win the 54-hole event. Tulsa finished three shots back after shooting a final round 289 for a 295-277-289--861 total, Texas A&M maintained third place (290-284-294--868) and Baylor used a final round 285 to move into fourth place at 297-292-285--874, and in a tie with Texas Tech, 296-292-286--874.
Tulsa's David Inglis won medalist honors after shooting an 8-under-par 70-67-71--208, three shots better than Baylor's Ryan Baca (70-70-71--211) and Texas A&M's Stephen Reed (68-70-73--211).
Southern Miss' Shane Rushing led Golden Eagle golfers with a 3-under-par 72-70-71--213 total and to tie for the No. 5 spot. Other Golden Eagles and their scores include Matt Wofford tied for 32nd at 70-76-76--222, Justin Emil tied for 48th at 73-77-75--225, Michael Soroka tied for 56th at 78-71-78--227, the same position and score as Justin Elliott (76-79-72--227).
Tulsa shot the best team round of the opening day, Monday, at 11-under-par 277, while Baylor posted the best team round of the final round, at 3-under-par 285.
