Lady Eagle Soccer Defeats South Florida
HATTIESBURG, Miss - The Southern Miss soccer team won its first conference match of the season here Sunday against USF, 1-0. The Lady Eagles improved to 8-4-2 overall, and 1-4-1 in Conference USA play.
The only goal scored came in the second half as the match featured many missed scoring chances by both teams. Sarah Brennan's goal at the 81:27 mark proved to be enough for Southern Miss to earn its first conference win this season.
Brennan, who scored her fifth goal of the season, was assisted by Melissa Plannels on the play.
USF had a chance to tie the game at the end of regulation, but its shot hit the top of the crossbar to end the game.
The Lady Eagels outshot the Bulls, 18-10, and, 8-6, shots on goal.
Southern Miss returns to action this weekend as it travels to TCU on Friday, and Memphis on Sunday.
