Southern Miss Soccer Travels to Mississippi State Tuesday
HATTIESBURG, Miss. ? After dropping two matches in the Ole Miss Soccer Invitational this weekend, the Southern Miss soccer team hopes to get back on the right track when it visits Mississippi State on Tuesday in Starkville, Miss.
The Lady Eagles (0-2) and the Bulldogs (1-1) kick off for 7 p.m.
Southern Miss suffered two one-goal losses in the Ole Miss Invitational, falling to Georgia State, 2-1, in the opener, and losing to Marshall, 2-1, in overtime on Sunday.
Senior forward Katie Adams (Collierville, Tenn.) scored both goals for the Lady Eagles this weekend, while Tricia Wiles (Sr., F, Germantown, Tenn.) and Emily Anne Chenoweth (So., D, Birmingham, Ala.) both tallied assists.
Adams and Katie Randolph (So., M, Houston, Texas) were both named to the Ole Miss Invitational All-Tournament team.
Junior goal keeper Leslie Schoeplein (Marietta, Ga.) and sophomore keeper Anna Snyder (Germantown, Tenn.) split time in goal this weekend, with Snyder getting the nod against Georgia State. Snyder has three saves on the year, while Schoeplein has one.
Mississippi State is coming off a tough 2-1 loss to Baylor in the championship game of the Baylor Labor Day Classic. Prior to the match against Baylor, the Bulldogs defeated TCU in a 1-0 match on Friday.
Sophomore forward Jessie Moore leads the Mississippi State offense, scoring the only two goals of the season. Amy Van Zandt and April Berry both have assists.
Following the contest against Mississippi State, the Lady Eagles stay on the road as they visit Middle Tennessee State on Friday and Alabama A&M on Sunday.
