Eagle Golfers 13th at Coastal Carolina Tournament
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- The Southern Miss men's golf team posted a 309 team total and is tied for 13th place after the first round of the Coastal Carolina University Invitational at the Grande Dunes Resort.
Originally, the 17-team field was to have played 36 holes today, but cold temperatures and windy conditions slowed play and the field was not able to complete the second round. It will be finished Tuesday morning and the third and final round will be played immediately at the conclusion of the suspended round.
Washington State carded a one-over-par 289 team total to take a narrow, one-stroke lead over Texas A&M. Furman, host Coastal Carolina and Vanderbilt round out the top five with 299 totals.
A&M's Stephen Reed shot (35-33) an impressive four-under-par 68 and is tied there for first-round medalist honors with Washington State's Dustin White (34-34).
Southern Miss' Tim Yelverton led the Golden Eagle players with an even-par 36-36--72. In addition to Yelverton's round, Michael Seroka is at 39-38--77, Jake Pasch at 40-39--79, Shane Ruffin at 41-40--81, and Matt Wofford at 40-42--82.
