Memphis Tops Southern Miss Soccer, 1-0
HATTIESBURG, Miss. ? Memphis scored its lone goal in the 41st minute of play, but it was enough of an advantage to take a 1-0 victory over host Southern Miss, Friday, at the USM Track and Soccer Complex.
The Tigers' Robyn Smart scored the only goal off an assist by Annika Moller to give Memphis the win.
Southern Miss fell to 6-8 overall and 2-5 in Conference USA play, while the Tigers improved to 6-7-1 overall and 2-4 in conference play.
Memphis outshot the Lady Eagles, 16-11, in the match and also had the shot-on-goal advantage, 7-6.
Both Southern Miss keeper Leslie Schoeplein and Tiger keeper Katarina Wicksell finished with six saves.
With the six saves, Schoeplein has 61 saves on the year, surpassing her career-high of 60 set last year.
The Lady Eagles return to action on Sunday in the final home match of the season where they will play Tulane. The contest begins at 1 p.m.
