Lady Eagle Soccer Wins Final Spring Match
HATTIESBURG, Miss - The Southern Miss women's soccer team defeated the Baton Rouge Red Star club team, 4-0, in the Lady Eagles' final tune-up game of the off-season. USM outshot Baton Rouge, 19-2, in the shutout.
Claire Rea started the scoring early in the first period with a shot from 20 yards that went to the right of Red Star keeper Katherine Echols and into the goal. Tricia Wiles took the rebound off Laurie Beaury's shot and scored straight on to make it 2-0.
Clodagh Dunworth collected two goals in the second half. Rea fed her a right side cross, and Dunworth netted the pass early in the final period. Her second goal came off Pauline Hazan's pass late in the game.
Wiles finished with a team-high five shots. Dunworth, Beaury, Leila McReynolds and Courtney Ivey shot two apiece.
