Southern Miss Golfers Finish Fourth At South Alabama Tournament
GULF SHORES, Ala. ? The Southern Miss men's golf team shot a six-under 858 (288-285-285) to finish fourth at South Alabama's Fall Beach Classic at the Gulf Shores Golf Club. Arkansas State (290-274-280 -- 844) claimed the team honors, shooting five strokes better than South Florida (284-280-285 -- 849). Western Kentucky's score of 275 was the best finish of the day, as the Hilltoppers (290-285-275 -- 850) placed third.
Three Eagles finished in the Top 20, as team-leader Jake Pasch tied for seventh after shooting 73-69-69 -- 211 (five-under par). Tim Yelverton shot 71-72-72 -- 215 and tied for 15th, and the senior shared the ranking with Justin Emil who scored 70-73-72 -- 215 in the tournament.
Matt Wofford carded 74-73-72 -- 219 to tie for 24th, and Chris Speight scored 77-71-73 -- 221 for a share of 33rd.
Western Kentucky's Brandon Waldrop shot a 65 on the day to claim medalist honors with a three-round total of 71-70-65 -- 206. Alan Clark of Arkansas State finished second with 69-68-70, and Waldrop's teammate Jared Topmiller also scored a 65 to tie for the best score in the final round, while placing third among the leaders with 71-72-65 -- 208.
