Southern Miss Golfers Rank Fourth At South Alabama Tournament
GULF SHORES, Ala. ? The Southern Miss men's golf team shot a three-under 573 (288-285) on the first day of the Fall Beach Classic at the Gulf Shores Golf Club. The Golden Eagles placed third behind Arkansas State (12-under par), South Florida (12-under par) and host South Alabama (six-under par).
Three Eagles rank in the Top 20 on the leaderboard, as team-leader Jake Pasch tied for ninth after shooting 73-69 -- 142 (two-under par). Tim Yelverton is a stroke behind, shooting 71-72 -- 143 and placing 12th, and the senior shares the ranking with Justin Emil who scored 70-73 -- 143 on the day.
Matt Wofford carded 74-73 -- 147 to tie for 29th. Chris Speight scored 77-71 -- 148 for a share of 37th.
Arkansas State's Wixson Huffstetler and Alan Clark share first place on the leaderboard, each scoring 137 (seven-under par). Tele Wightman of South Florida follows with 139.
The Fall Beach Classic ends tomorrow, Tuesday, Nov. 6.
