At Lamar Tournament
PASS CHRISTIAN, Miss. ? The Southern Miss men's golf team ended Lamar's Cardinal Classic with a fourth-place finish, scoring 288-294-298 -- 880 (16-over par). The tournament was held at The Oaks Golf Club and featured North Texas (290-283-299 -- 872) as the winner, with Lamar (289-291-294 -- 874) finishing second and Texas Tech (293-284-298 -- 875) placing third.
Tim Yelverton improved nine positions from yesterday on the leaderboard to finish sixth, shooting an even-par 216 (73-72-71). This was the senior's fourth top-10 finish of the fall. He has claimed two medalist honors and a second place finish, competing in all five tournaments and averaging 71.6 strokes a round this season.
Justin Emil held on to a tie for 17th from the first day of competition, scoring 73-73-74 -- 220. Matt Wofford improved two placements for a share of 27th, carding 74-75-74 -- 223, and Jake Pasch scored 68-79-79 -- 226 to tie for 35th.
Andy Jacobson tied for 61st with 85-76-76 -- 237. Chris Speight finished at 66th with 84-74-83 -- 241.
