Southern Miss Soccer Hosts UAB, South Florida this weekend
HATTIESBURG, Miss. ? Fresh off two wins and a Conference USA victory over Memphis, the Southern Miss Lady Eagle Soccer team returns to action, hosting UAB and South Florida in a pair of matches this weekend at the USM Track and Soccer Complex.
The Lady Eagles (7-4, 1-4 in C-USA) face UAB (6-6, 4-2) Friday at 4 p.m., and meet South Florida (4-7-2, 1-4-1) at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
Southern Miss, which has netted 26 goals this year, is led by junior forward Tricia Wiles (Germantown, Tenn.), who has a team-high 18 points (eight goals and two assists) on the season. Three players follow with four goals apiece, including junior forward Katie Adams (Collierville, Tenn.), junior midfielder Leila McReynolds (Evansville, Ind.) and freshman midfielder Lauren Prewitt (Katy, Texas).
Sophomore keeper Leslie Schoeplein (Marietta, Ga.) leads the team with 41 saves on the season.
UAB is coming off its fourth-win in a row, a 2-1 double-overtime win over TCU. The Blazers are led by Adrienne Suffridge (four goals, five assists) and Tara Kidwell (four goals, four assists). Keeper Lisa Nowoslawksi has 74 saves on the season.
South Florida dropped a pair of matches this weekend, including a 2-1 loss to Houston and a 4-3 loss to TCU. The Lady Bulls are led by Stine Hagh (five goals, three assists) and keeper Valerie Wetzel leads the team with 32 saves.
