Greenough assumed the role of Assistant Director of Athletic Communications in June 2023 after serving two years as a graduate assistant, a year as a student assistant and one year as an intern for the department's Athletic Communications Office.
As a graduate assistant, Greenough oversaw the development and strategy of social media for women's basketball and baseball at Southern Miss, as well as serving as the primary sports information director for the Lady Eagles and Golden Eagles' beach volleyball program.
Earning a paid position as a student assistant in the 2021-22 season, Greenough oversaw beach volleyball and assisted in the operations of all Southern Miss Athletics events, including the 2022 C-USA Baseball Championships, 2022 Hattiesburg Regional and 2022 Hattiesburg Super Regional, by developing fan-focused content and pages and by working hands on with event staffers.
While an undergraduate, Greenough earned numerous honors and served in many leadership positions. As a senior, he was elected as the 2021 Southern Miss Homecoming King and named to both the Who's Who Among Students At Southern Miss and Southern Miss Hall of Fame, joining his grandfather, Jesse Elmo Lang, and maternal uncle, Justice David Ishee, in the ranks of Hall of Fame students. Both Lang and Ishee also earned the honor of Mr. MSC and USM, respectively. Greenough spent two years as an ambassador for The University of Southern Mississippi as a member of Southern Style.
At MGCCC, Greenough earned two degrees, an Associate of Art and an Associate of Science, in his two years at the Jackson County Campus in Gautier, Miss. As a Bulldog, Greenough worked as vice president of the Student Government Association, secretary of the Honors College, secretary of the Pi Epsilon Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa among other involvements. He earned recognition in MGCCC's Who's Who Among Students and the 2020 MGCCC Hall of Fame. He was also voted Mr. MGCCC as a sophomore and earned a unanimous selection by campus faculty, staff and administrators as the 2020 recipient of the MGCCC Citizenship Award.
Greenough lettered twice in football at East Central High School in his hometown, Hurley, Miss. Graduating eighth in his class with a 4.0 GPA while also being voted most likely to succeed and as The Spirit of East Central by faculty and staff at ECHS. His passion for athletics began at East Central as Greenough served a total of six years as a public address announcer for the Hornets football, basketball, baseball, softball and soccer teams.
Greenough's mother, Susan, is a 2005 graduate of Southern Miss, as well as all seven of her siblings (Kathy, Jess, Bruce, Mary Margaret, Scott, Linda and Sissy); both her parents (Elmo and Vivian Lang); and her maternal grandmother, Thelma. Elmo Lang, a two-year letterwinner for the 1951 and 1952 Mississippi Southern football teams served as President of the Southern Miss Alumni Association from 1971-72 and overseeing the vote and change of the Southern Miss mascot to the Golden Eagles in 1972. Lang was elected to the third class of the M-Club Hall of Fame and inagural class of the Southern Miss Alumni Hall of Fame.
Greenough lives in Hattiesburg, Miss., and is an active member of Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Hattiesburg. He is engaged to Ms. Mary Margaret Morton of LaPlace, La.
