Jewel Triggs is entering her first year in the Hub City as the Lady Eagles’ special assistant to the head coach. In her role, Triggs assists head coach Joye Lee-McNelis in all her duties as well as assisting in running the recruiting and day-to-day operations of the program.
Triggs arrives in Hattiesburg after four years in Monroe, La., most recently as the director of women’s basketball operations.
As the director of operations, Triggs oversaw the day-to-day operations and travel needs for ULM. Prior to serving as director of operations, Triggs worked as the Warhawks’ graduate assistant and creative content director, working to create and manage ULM’s social media brand as well as assisting the coaches with their duties for each game. She also worked as a strength and conditioning intern before moving to women’s basketball.
A four-year letterwinner at George Mason, Triggs playing in 104 games for the Patriots from 2015 to 2019, owning a career 33.3 percent field goal percentage. She would ultimately earn her bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from George Mason in 2019 before moving to Monroe.
While in Fairfax, Va., Triggs served as the Patriots’ representative to the President-Student Advisory Group and as the women’s basketball team’s representative to the George Mason Student Athlete Advisory Council.
The Thibodaux, La., native earned a total of nine varsity letters in high school for Vanderbilt Catholic (Houma, La.) and Thibodaux High School with five in basketball, two in cross country and two in track and field. Triggs started as an eighth grader at Vanderbilt Catholic before moving to Thibodaux High School prior to her senior year where she 21 points, six rebounds and three steals as a senior.
A McDonald’s All-American Nominee and member of All-District, All-Region and All-State First Teams, she finished her prep career as a three-star prospect before signing with George Mason.
