Allie Hazelwood Wins Season’s First SBC Setter of the Week Award

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Senior transfer Allie Hazelwood's outstanding debut weekend in the black and gold earned her the first Sun Belt Conference Setter of the Week honor of the 2026 season.
Hazelwood facilitated one of the conference's most productive offenses during Southern Miss' perfect 3-0 weekend at the Gamecock Classic. She currently leads the Sun Belt in assists per set (10.27) and total assists (113). Under her direction, the Golden Eagles posted a conference-best .331 hitting percentage while recording 147 kills, 13.36 kills per set and a 45% kill percentage. Hazelwood's performance also earned her a spot on the Gamecock Classic All-Tournament Team alongside teammate Sadie McAda.
The last Southern Miss player to earn Setter of the Week honors was Sarah Bell on Aug. 28, 2017, when the Golden Eagles competed in Conference USA. Hazelwood becomes the first Southern Miss volleyball player to earn Sun Belt Setter of the Week honors and the first Golden Eagle to receive a conference "Player of the Week" award since libero Sunni Sheppard was named Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 10, 2025.
