HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Senior setter Allie Hazelwood earned her third Sun Belt Conference Setter of the Week award of the 2026 season Tuesday after leading Southern Miss in a home series split with Georgia State.
The transfer by way of Southern California has made a huge impact on the Golden Eagle offense this season as the black and gold have racked up the third most kills per set in the conference this season with 13.52. Southern Miss' 120 kills led the conference during the week while they averaged 15.00 kills per set, the league's third-best mark. Hazelwood paced the Sun Belt with 105 assists and an average of 13.13 assists per set, the conference's highest total and average.
Hazelwood recorded 44 assists, seven digs, two block assists and two kills Thursday. On Friday, she posted 61 assists, 11 digs, and an ace to earn her fifth double-double of the season as Southern Miss won their first conference home match of the season. Her 61 assists set a new Sun Belt season high, surpassing the previous mark of 57, which Hazelwood also recorded. The total is the second highest by any player in the country in a four-set match this season. Hazelwood still leads the conference this season in assist per set with 10.71, a mark that ranks 12th nationally. She also sits at second in the conference in total assist with 664.
With her third weekly award this season, Hazelwood becomes the first Southern Miss player to earn at least three "of the week" awards in a season since Catherine Repsher collected four Freshman of the Week honors in 2016. She is also the first Golden Eagle to earn at least three Setter of the Week awards in a season since Kelsea Seymour in 2011.
