Frisco, Texas – Southern Miss will be part of the 11th annual Frisco College Baseball Classic, set for Riders Field on March 5-7, 2027. Peak Events, LLC, is also proud to play host to 2026 NCAA National Champion Oklahoma, Kansas, and UC Irvine.
"The Frisco Classic has become one of the premier early-season events in college baseball, and the 2027 field is a great example of that," said Ryan Holloway, CEO and Founder of Peak Events. "To have the reigning national champion Sooners joined by the Jayhawks, Golden Eagles, and Anteaters makes for an electric weekend. We can't wait to showcase these outstanding programs and welcome their fans to Frisco for another unforgettable weekend at Riders Field."
The 2027 Frisco Classic will host four top-tier teams over three days of play at Riders Field, home of the Texas Rangers' Double-A affiliate, the Frisco RoughRiders. The weekend tournament will have two games per day in a round-robin format. The full schedule, including matchups and game times, will be finalized soon.
Oklahoma's 2026 national championship marked the third title in program history. The Sooners rallied from the brink of elimination at the Atlanta Regional, upsetting Georgia Tech to advance to the Lawrence Super Regional, where they beat Kansas. OU then swept its way through its side of the Men's College World Series bracket, beating Alabama once and Georgia twice, then defeated North Carolina in the best-of-three final. SEC teams have now claimed seven consecutive MCWS titles.
This tournament includes a Lawrence Super Regional rematch between Oklahoma and Kansas. The Jayhawks are coming off a banner 2026 season in which they won the Big 12 Conference regular season championship and matched a program record with 45 wins.
Southern Miss also enters the tournament following a championship campaign, having claimed both the Sun Belt Conference regular season and tournament titles before hosting the Hattiesburg Regional.
UC Irvine has a storied history with a pair of Men's College Baseball World Series appearances. The Anteaters won their third Big West Conference title in 2025.
"We're thrilled to welcome another outstanding field to the Frisco College Baseball Classic, featuring a great lineup highlighted by defending national champion Oklahoma," said Scott Burchett, Frisco RoughRiders General Manager. "The tournament showcases the elite level of competition that fans have come to expect in Frisco. We look forward to an exciting weekend and continuing the tradition of making Frisco a premier destination for college baseball."

More on the Frisco RoughRiders:
The Frisco RoughRiders are the Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers and the 2022 Texas League champions. In 2023, the team celebrated its 20th anniversary and has consistently finished in the top five among all Double-A franchises in attendance yearly. In August 2014, the RoughRiders were purchased by an ownership group led by Chuck Greenberg. These enhancements earned the Riders and the City of Frisco Ballpark Digest's prestigious "Best Ballpark Renovation" award for two consecutive years (2015 and 2016).
